Former Houston’s Restaurant to be demolished

  • November 28, 2025

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The former Houston’s Restaurant in East Memphis is set for demolition.

A demolition permit was filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development.

This comes weeks after the restaurant was sold to a new owner.

The property was sold on October 31 for $2.1 million to an entity known as 5000 Poplar, LLC.

It’s unclear what plans are in the works for the property once it is razed.

Houston’s Restaurant at 5000 Poplar Avenue in East Memphis closed suddenly and permanently in December of 2024 and has been vacant since.
