ARLINGTON — Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott couldn’t help but chuckle.
“I told you so,” Prescott said.
Hey, he’s not wrong.
Earlier this week, Prescott voiced confidence in wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. When asked about Lamb’s struggles and multiple drops in Sunday’s win over the Eagles, Prescott told people not to worry. All they had to do, Prescott essentially said, was check the history.

Lamb has had some of his best games after games in which he struggled. It sparked the best stretch in his career in 2023 when he became the first receiver in team history to have over 140 receiving yards in three straight games. Earlier this year, after he was credited with four drops in the season-opening loss to the Eagles, Lamb turned around and had a 100-yard receiving game against the New York Giants.
On Thursday, Lamb did it again: he responded with a team-high seven catches for 112 yards and a touchdown in a 31-28 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Lamb also drew three defensive pass interferences.

The performance in Prescott’s eyes was so expected that he had to remind people of his prediction.
“I told you. It’s the way the guy is wired,” Prescott said of Lamb. “That’s what greatness looks like. You’re going to have days that you’re not proud of. You’re going to have days that aren’t to your standard, especially when your standard is as high as it is when you’re CeeDee Lamb. I just know the way he approaches this game and the way he loves this game and I knew he was going to answer back.
“Hearing him in postgame say whether it’s good or bad, my next game is my best game, that is the mentality. He wears it, he practices that way, and it’s no surprise when we went out there and did what he did tonight.”
