The stakes couldn’t be much higher in a series that began in 1894 but took a 12-year hiatus beginning in 2012 after Texas A&M left the Big 12 Conference and joined the SEC. The No. 16 Longhorns (8-3, 5-2) need a win to keep their hopes alive of a third consecutive berth in the College Football Playoff. The No. 3 Aggies (11-0, 7-0) need a win to secure their first undefeated regular season since 1992 as well as a spot in next week’s SEC championship game.

And both want a year’s worth of bragging rights in a second consecutive meeting featuring two ranked teams after Texas won last season’s contest 17-7 in College Station in the first SEC game between the rivals.
