Another mass protest is planned for Saturday in cities across the United States. The protests are aimed at the Trump administration and moves the administration has made including increased enforcement of immigration laws according to USA Today. Protests are planned in more than 2,500 cities including in West Texas.

“No Kings” Protest Scheduled for Lubbock

According to KAMC, the Democrat-aligned organization Defend Democracy Lubbock, is behind the local protest that is set to take place on Saturday, October 18 at Citizens Tower in Downtown Lubbock. The protest will begin at 10:00 am and run until at least 2 pm.

One protest organizer told KAMC that one of the goals of the protest is to unite Lubbock’s “progressive movements”.

According to USAToday, many far left groups are behind the protests nationwide.

Groups organizing the No Kings protests include the ACLU, American Federation of Teachers, Common Defense, 50501, Human Rights Campaign, Indivisible, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn, National Nurses United, Public Citizen, SEIU and United We Dream.

This is the second “No Kings” protest to take place. The first was on June 14. Organizers say the name “No Kings” comes from the belief that Trump is acting like a monarch. A claim Republicans and the White House dismiss since the United States is not a monarchy.

Both sides hope for peaceful rallies and protests on Saturday.
