The Bobcats endured a five-game losing streak full of missed chances and heartbreak in the middle of the season. However, they rebounded against Southern Miss and continued the good vibes by defeating Louisiana-Monroe. The defense, which has been the weakness for most of the year, allowed 14 points the past two weeks after giving up 30+ for the rest of conference play.
The Jaguars are also coming off a win over the Golden Eagles, and their record is deceiving. South Alabama had a nasty non-conference schedule against Auburn, Tulane and North Texas, also losing three Sun Belt matchups by one score. The offense is led by running back Kentrel Bullock, one of the best rushers in the Sun Belt.
Bobcats’ quarterback Brad Jackson has been excellent as a redshirt freshman. The Bobcats are second in the Sun Belt in points per game (34.9) and Jackson has thrown 16 touchdowns and rushed for 13 more.
