An overnight shooting Sunday in a Fort Worth parking lot left one person dead, according to a news release from police.

Authorities said officers responded to a shooting call in the 6600 block of Fossil Bluff Drive shortly after 2:30 a.m. The arriving officers found the victim in a parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries but was pronounced dead there a short time later, according to authorities.

Investigators said the victim had entered a vehicle when two unknown suspects shot multiple times into the vehicle, striking him, the release said.

Police said the suspects then fled from the scene on foot. No arrests have been made so far, but detectives are interviewing witnesses and trying to find additional evidence at the scene, the release said.

Police did not immediately say if the victim knew the people who fired the gun or say what led to the gunfire.
