Lubbock sets record with a high of 34° on Sunday; cold air to linger through Monday

  • December 1, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Well-below-average temperatures and cloudy skies dominated the afternoon, with the high reaching just 34°.

That set a record low maximum for the date, breaking the previous mark of 35° set in 1971.

A shallow cold-air mass will remain in place through Monday. A low cloud deck will slowly lower into late Monday morning before dissipating; the clouds should limit how much temperatures fall overnight.

Clearing is likely by late Monday morning or early afternoon, allowing for afternoon sunshine. A reinforcing shot of colder air is expected late Monday into the evening.

Temperatures should gradually warm into midweek before falling again on Wednesday. A strong front could bring a chance of precipitation on Thursday and Friday.
