Some of the coldest air of the season has arrived in North Texas, and the chilly air will stick around for much of the week.
Monday will be cold and cloudy, with temperatures climbing only to the low 40s during the day before the mercury plunges to below freezing overnight. Lows are expected to bottom out in the upper 20s overnight, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.
There is a 20% chance of precipitation on Monday, with the likelihood of showers in the morning before 9 a.m. and then again during the day after 12 p.m., according to the weather service.
Sunshine returns to Dallas-Fort Worth on Tuesday, but it won’t last long.

The forecast calls for clouds to return again, beginning Wednesday night and sticking around through the end of the week.
Temperatures start to moderate by mid-week with high temperatures rising to 64 on Wednesday before dipping again for the end of the week.
