A popular local Mom-and-Pop restaurant in Lubbock is closing until January 5th, 2026, citing major repairs. Dimba’s Chicken & Seafood, owned and operated by the Dimba family, is a favorite for fried chicken, catfish, seafood, and more.

Why Does Dimba’s Need Repairs?

According to the comments section in a post made by Dimba’s on Facebook, the repairs are needed after “a lady ran into our building.” A freakishly common occurrence in Lubbock, unfortunately.

What Makes Dimbas Unique?

Dimba’s has been a Lubbock fixture for many years, offering freshly fried chicken and seafood at a very fair price. They are also one of the very few places you can get a whole friend catfish, if that’s what you’re into (I can’t deal with bones because I’m a toddler- the strips are great!). The hot puffs are another favorite, especially with honey.

I Still Want Fried Chicken and Seafood Right Now!

Can’t wait a month for Dimba’s? Here are some similar and great options I recommend:

Fried Chicken and Seafood

Bucket of Love (6012 82nd St Suite E)

River Smith’s (406 Avenue Q)

Fried Chicken Only

Kokio’s, a little different- this is Korean fried chicken, but very good!  (3211 50th St A)

Dirk’s does have seafood, but it isn’t fried. (1636 13th St)

But Go Back To Dimba’s!

Losing any month of business hurts a lot, especially if you’re a small business and that month is December. When Dimba’s opens back up, let’s show them a lot of love, and let’s be extra careful driving around the building.
