NBC 5, Telemundo 39, and Stage West Theatre want you to join us for a powerful performance of All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 beginning on December 3 in Fort Worth. The holiday show marks the regional premiere of the play by Peter Rothstein, with Vocal Arrangements by Erick Lichte & Timothy C. Takach.
Set on Christmas Eve in 1914 in the cold trenches of World War I, the play recounts the remarkable true story of a lone soldier who steps into no man’s land and lifts his voice in song. Following suit, troops from both sides laid down their weapons for an extraordinary holiday celebration of music, feasting and camaraderie.
The play asks us what brings us together when the world feels divided? In this story of shared humanity, a 12-man a cappella chorus weaves together the soldiers’ letters, poetry, and period songs ranging from trench tunes to holiday carols. Their powerful voices fill the room with emotion and will make the audience feel the spirit of togetherness.
Viewer discretion is advised as the play deals with strong content including displays and discussion of war-related struggles and situations including death, separation from loved ones, hunger, loss, betrayal and loneliness. Minimal strong language. Recommended for 12+ and adults.
Previews of the show will be performed on December 3-6 followed by the regular run on December 6 – 21. An ASL interpreted performance will be offered on December 19. Two post-show conversations will be offered on December 11 and December 19. Pre-show dining will be available in The Lobby Café 90 minutes prior to the performances. Make sure you make a reservation! Ticket prices vary by day.
