ROCKPORT, Texas — Rockport police released new details Monday about a weekend incident outside a local church.
Around 10 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to reports of a man waving a gun and yelling after stepping out of a pickup truck on FM 17-81.
Police, along with Aransas County deputies, stopped the driver as he attempted to leave. The man, identified as Anh Nguyen of Rockport, cooperated with officers and was taken into custody.
Authorities recovered the firearm from Nguyen’s vehicle. He is facing charges of deadly conduct and unlawful possession of a firearm.
No one was injured, and police say there is no ongoing threat.
