HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A retired K-9 officer, which was the first bloodhound in law enforcement service in Harris County, has died.
K-9 Clyde served the Harris County Pct. 3 Constable’s Office as a single purpose search K-9 for several years. The constable’s office says he was responsible for locating and brought many people to safety, including children and elderly citizens.
K-9 Clyde was welcomed to Precinct 3 in 2019. He served for several years before he retired.
“As he grew older, the tough choice was made to retire him from service. Clyde lived out his remaining years with former Pct. 3 Deputy TJ Tolleson, where he truly enjoyed the retired life, as a beloved pet‚” the constable’s office said.
The constable’s office says Clyde was the first bloodhound in law enforcement service in Harris County, but because of his successful career, other agencies in the area have added bloodhounds to their K9 departments.
“He was loved by all who met him, and we will always smile when we think of his very distinct howl and the trail of drool he’d leave in his path. Rest easy K-9 Clyde, we’ve got it from here‚” the constable’s office said.
