Expansion and upgrades are part of the first phase of a multi-level expansion at the Bay Area campus.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Medical Center (CCMC) has opened its newly expanded Emergency Room at the Bay Area campus on Monday.
CCMC stated this marks the first phase of a major, multi-level upgrade to boost healthcare access across the region. The Bay Tower ER has expanded, tripling in size with 13 additional treatment rooms, 29 total ER beds, and a larger waiting area.
“This expansion represents a pivotal step in our mission to advance the care and improvement of human life,” said CEO David Irizarry.
In the next project phase, the hospital will add 48 inpatient beds to the tower’s new fifth and sixth floors, with completion expected in late 2027.
Other additions to CCMC include a neurointerventional radiology lab equipped with high-performance biplane imaging technology. The system offers real-time, high-resolution views of brain and spine vessels to support complex neurovascular procedures.
“This technology offers enhanced clarity and real-time feedback,” said Dr. Faheem Sherif, adding that it will improve precision, efficiency, and outcomes for patients experiencing stroke and other critical conditions.
