It’s a new week, which means it’s time to mine Landman’s latest episode for North Texas Easter eggs. The West Texas-set oil rig drama, co-created by Taylor Sheridan, has shot across Dallas-Fort Worth. The script, accordingly, reflects the milieu.
Here are notable D-FW references in the third episode of Landman’s second season.
The Frost Tower
In July, streets were closed in downtown Fort Worth for filming at the Frost Tower, among other locations. The high-rise building served as the corporate office for the late oil businessman Monty Miller (Jon Hamm).
News Roundups
His widow, Cami (Demi Moore), riffles through files in his office toward the start of episode three with the city backdrop visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Cattlemen’s Steak House
Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) and Cami pull up to the Fort Worth Stockyards restaurant to tersely confront an M-Tex Oil lawyer about the company’s murky finances.
“Sir, this kind of behavior is unacceptable in a restaurant,” an employee says to Tommy, after Cami chucks a glass of water at the lawyer.
“It’s not a restaurant. It’s a club. Restaurant’s upstairs, so it’s fine down here,” Tommy replies. “Matter of fact that’s what clubs are for. You don’t want to be throwing s— at your attorney upstairs in a restaurant. Membership has its privileges.”
The scene could be read as a subtle advertisement of Sheridan’s business venture. The Fort Worth-raised show creator recently bought the steakhouse, which has been around since 1947. He has since revamped it with a members-only Cattlemen’s Club.

Moncrief Cancer Institute
Before Tommy and Cami enter the restaurant, he advises her to make a clean break from the oil industry after the company’s finances are sorted out.
The money she could get from a sale could go toward honoring Monty with “a museum or a park or a cancer center like the Moncriefs,” he says, in reference to UT Southwestern’s cancer treatment center in Fort Worth.
