Boys’ Basketball
Plano defeated Hinckley-Big Rock 68–44 behind a balanced offensive attack. Kevin Martinez recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Alan Contreras led the Reapers with 17 points. Cooper Beaty added 13 points, and Ethan Taxis scored 11 in the win.
Girls’ Basketball
Sycamore topped Aurora Central Catholic 68–50.
Serena fell 42–28 to Ottawa despite an 8-point, 5-rebound effort from Anna Hjerpe. Parker Twait added 7 points and 2 rebounds, while Alexa McNally, Brynley Glade and Kendall Whiteaker each scored 4. McNally grabbed 3 rebounds, and Glade and Whiteaker each finished with 4.
Football – IHSA State Championships
Four state championship games in Classes 5A–8A were postponed Saturday because of a snowstorm and have now been rescheduled. Class 5A will kick off today at 3 p.m., followed by Class 6A at 6 p.m., both at Illinois State’s Hancock Stadium.
Class 7A and Class 8A will now be played tomorrow at Northern Illinois University’s Huskie Stadium, with Class 7A at 3 p.m. and Class 8A at 6 p.m. WSPY will broadcast the Class 8A title game featuring No. 11 Oswego and No. 1 Mount Carmel, with coverage beginning at 6 p.m. Sponsors include A All Temp Heating and Cooling, The Nanny and the Mouse Travel, Strictly Carpet and Flooring, Andersen Plumbing/Heating/Cooling, Imagination Print and Design, and Hett’s Auto Sales.
Lena-Winslow, Wilmington, Byron and Montini have already won the IHSA state titles in Classes 1A through 4A, respectively.
Girls’ Bowling
Plano fell to Harvard, but Gracie Busboom set a new school record with a high game of 233 for the Reapers.
Boys’ Bowling
Yorkville defeated Plainfield Central 2,931–2,353. Alex Wilson led the Foxes with a 694 series, while Mason Pattermann added a 581.
Dance
Oswego East placed third in its opening competition of the season Sunday at Oak Forest High School. The Wolves compete next at the Naperville North Invitational this Sunday at 8 a.m.

Hinckley-Big Rock will host Serena in boys’ basketball this Friday. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:45 p.m., with the game airing on WSPY.

Basketball – Waubonsee Community College
The Waubonsee Community College men’s basketball visits Lake Michigan College tonight at 6 p.m. The Chiefs return home Thursday to host College of DuPage, with the women tipping off at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m.

NBA
The Chicago Bulls lost 125–120 on the road to the Orlando Magic, dropping to 9–11. Josh Giddey led Chicago with 22 points, followed by Matas Buzelis with 21 and Nikola Vucevic with 20. Vucevic pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. The Bulls host the Brooklyn Nets tomorrow at 7 p.m.
NHL
The Chicago Blackhawks visit the Vegas Golden Knights tonight at 9 p.m. Chicago enters the matchup 11-9-5, while Vegas stands at 11-6-8.
AUSL (Softball)
The Athletes Unlimited Softball League held its 2025 expansion draft last night. Former UCLA standout Maya Brady, who debuted with the Talons, was selected No. 1 overall by the Oklahoma City Spark.
