Last Friday, the Lakers hosted in the Dallas Mavericks in the final West Group B match up. Before the game could take place, the Lakers special Cup court had been deemed unplayable by the league’s court vendor. According to Yahoo! Sports, it was returned to the vendor for repair.

Prior to being banned from the finals game, Lakers members Luka Dončić and Rui Hachimura had described the court as slippery. The court had also been described as oily and dangerous.

This is of significance to Spurs fans as they play in the Western Conference Emirates Cup Quarterfinals against the Lakers in Los Angeles. This will be the first time since the court was ruled unusable.

Will they have the specialized Emirates court, or will the Lakers regular hardwood be on display?

Either way, it is reassuring to know that these courts are meticulously monitored and assessed for each game, considering how often they are dismantled and reassembled throughout the season.
