A Lubbock frozen custard shop has permanently called it quits shortly after celebrating its first anniversary in Lubbock. Abbott’s Frozen Custard of Lubbock, located at 11112 Slide Road, confirmed the permanent closure with me via Facebook Messenger:

What Abbot’s Frozen Custard Had To Offer Lubbock

It’s always a shame when a business like this in Lubbock is lost. Abbot’s offered frozen custards, specialty sundaes and splits, milkshakes, flurries, floats, and even cakes and novelties like frozen bananas. Additionally, it was a sweet treat spot in an area of town that’s still developing, so now folks who live out there may have to drive a little further to get their fix. Now, if you want Abbot’s in Texas, you’ll have to drive all the way to Kyle, McKinney, or Prosper.

Why Abbot’s May Have Closed In Lubbock

Times have been tough for the food service industry for years now. Supplies are expensive, and good labor can be hard to come by. Other Options In Lubbock

For frozen custard, Lubbock still has J’s Creamery (5101 82nd St) and two locations of Freddy’s Frozen Custard. For ice cream, Lubbock has many options, including the iconic and oh-so-charming Holly Hop Ice Cream Shoppe (3404 34th St).

Being a frozen treat spot in December and January is never easy, and 2025 probably made it nearly impossible for some businesses. We wish the Abbot Creamery folks the very best on their next endeavor.
