J. Alexander’s, the nationally recognized upscale casual brand known for wood-fired cooking and polished service, is expanding into North Texas with a new location set to open in Plano early next year.
The restaurant, part of SPB Hospitality, has long positioned itself as a destination for guests seeking consistent quality. Its focus on carefully prepared food and thoughtful service has helped the company grow into markets across the country, always emphasizing memorable dining experiences.
The newest restaurant, located at 3980 Dallas Parkway, will be the fourth J. Alexander’s in Texas and the first in North Texas.
A Strategic Entry Into DFW
For the company, choosing Plano as its DFW debut wasn’t accidental. Kristen Hohl, executive vice president of marketing for SPB Hospitality, said the area’s momentum made it an ideal fit.
“Plano offers an incredible opportunity for our entry into the DFW area,” Hohl said in an official statement. “The city’s growth, energy and appetite for exceptional food aligns perfectly with what we bring to the table.”
The brand, known for its elevated take on American classics, sees the new restaurant as a way to introduce its signature style to an audience already accustomed to a robust dining scene.
What to Expect
The restaurant will operate daily, offering a menu of hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood and signature salads and sandwiches, with highlights like New York strip, slow-roasted prime rib, filet mignon and seared ahi tuna.

Its bar program features handcrafted cocktails, including a spicy margarita, Kentucky old fashioned and lemon drop mojito, complemented by a carefully selected wine list, all within a setting that blends sophistication with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
A private dining room will also be available for corporate gatherings, celebrations or intimate events, giving the restaurant flexibility to serve both everyday diners and those seeking a special occasion setting.
Hiring Ahead Of Opening
To prepare for its arrival, J. Alexander’s is launching a major hiring effort to bring on 90 to 100 employees across both front- and back-of-house roles. The company emphasizes a high standard of hospitality, and the Plano staff will be trained to maintain the restaurant’s reputation for attentive, personalized service.
Hiring begins Dec. 3 and will take place on-site Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Dallas Parkway location. Applicants may also apply online.
“We’re looking to hire a talented team that’ll deliver the signature J. Alexander’s touch to the community,” Hohl said.
With its Plano debut on the horizon, the restaurant is preparing to introduce that approach to North Texas diners for the first time, bringing a new wood-fired option to one of the region’s busiest dining corridors.
