TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Two days after its public plea for help, the SPCA of East Texas is sending a message of gratitude.
Executive Director Emily Heglund announced that in just 48 hours supporters donated $133,258 to support its mission of caring for animals in East Texas.
The no-kill shelter faced a six-figure gap and potential closure after a year of declining donations and increased calls for service.
Heglund said every dollar donated is going toward providing services to animals: animal care, medical treatment, adoption and intake services, staffing, essential utilities and transport services.
Heglund said the SPCA of East Texas is an independent 501(c)(3) and is not affiliated with the national ASPCA.
