The Duke of Sussex made an unexpected appearance on his wife’s “With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration,” which aired on Netflix Dec. 3, and the royal kinda insulted her cooking skills.
Meghan was making her family’s famous Christmas Eve gumbo, a dish normally made by her mom, Doria Ragland. Keeping with the tradition, Meghan cooked the spicy recipe for the cameras. But Harry quickly reminded viewers that he’s loyal to the original.
“Gumbo, for me, is one of my favorites,” he said. “Especially her mom’s, but before the fish goes in.”

Meghan noted that Ragland “saves a portion on the side” for her son-in-law because of his preferences, warning Harry that her own version packed more heat. “My mom does the turkey sausage for you, so this one has more kick to it,” she teased. “I’ll give you a little towel. He’s going to sweat.”
“Wonderful,” Harry replied, before immediately feeling the burn. “I can feel it puncturing through the top of my head right now,” he joked. “It is delicious. I’m not so sure it’s as good as your mom’s, but it’s certainly close.”

Meghan was in shock, staring at Harry as chef Tom Colicchio laughed nearby. “My mom will love you for that,” she said. “What a good thing to say for your mother-in-law.”
We’re sure that’s not quite the reaction Meghan was expecting. For more entertaining episodes with the royal couple, viewers can stream all episodes of “With Love, Meghan” on Netflix now.
