CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A beloved holiday tradition is once again filling the galleries at the Art Museum of South Texas as the Christmas Tree Forest returns for its 16th year.

The exhibit, presented in partnership with H-E-B and the Junior League of Corpus Christi, features 30 decorated trees created by local schools and youth groups. Each tree is inspired by a popular children’s book, with students spending weeks crafting handmade ornaments that bring their chosen stories to life.

Alexis DeLeon, marketing coordinator for the museum, said the project gives students a chance to see their creativity celebrated in a professional art space.

“It strengthens the bond between reading and art and shows students the love of illustration within literature,” DeLeon said.

She added that one of the best parts is watching students light up when they spot their work on display. Some trees even include small photos of the children as part of the decorations.

“You can see them pointing out their trees and the ornaments they made,” she said. “It’s just nice to see them come in and bring their families to check out their tree.”
