Temple’s Jason Bradford signed with TCU, while Jamarion Carlton flipped from Baylor to Texas, saying he’s excited for big-time competition and followed his heart.
TEMPLE, Texas — Early signing day brought celebration to Temple High School on Wednesday as football standouts Jason Bradford and Jamarion Carlton made their college commitments official in front of a packed crowd.
Bradford signed with TCU, while Carlton announced he will head to Texas after flipping his previous commitment from Baylor.
Carlton said joining the Longhorns gives him a chance to compete at the highest level.
“Really just being a part of, you know… like a championship contender team, It’s gonna be competition every day in practices. You got great players, people that wanna compete out there, and then the atmosphere is crazy. So being around like the all the fans and all that, it’s loud. It’s like something that you always wanna play for,” Carlton said.
He said the decision came after prayer and reflection.
“I was just following my heart. I didn’t really wanna, you know, keep on down it, so, you know, I prayed about it a lot just to make sure that I’m making the right choice for me, and, you know, they kept on putting Texas in my mind, so, you know, I gotta follow it. I ain’t wanna ignore it,” he said.
Bradford said signing with the Horned Frogs felt like the culmination of faith and support.
“Uh, it’s a blessing. I feel like God did his work and it’s just, you know what I’m saying, I had, I had the support all around, so I couldn’t, so I didn’t have no, no work, so it was just God,” Bradford said.
The signings were among several Central Texas athletes making their next steps official on the first day of the early period.
