The Dallas Cowboys (6-5-1) face the Detroit Lions (7-5) in a pivotal matchup with NFC Wild Card ramifications. Kickoff Thursday from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, is set for 7:15 p.m. ET (Prime Video). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL odds around the Cowboys vs. Lions odds and make our expert NFL picks and predictions for the best bets.
The Cowboys stunned the Kansas City Chiefs 31-28 on Thanksgiving as 3.5-point home dogs. QB Dak Prescott went 27-for-39 for 320 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT. WRs CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were unstoppable, combining for 13 catches for 200 yards and 1 TD.
The Lions are reeling. Their secondary is a mess with injuries, and nearly their entire starting offensive line is on the injury report. Their top 2 receiving options are in flux. TE Sam LaPorta (back) is on IR, and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown left last week’s game early with a low-ankle sprain. They fell 31-21 as 3-point road dogs Thanksgiving Day against the Green Bay Packers. QB Jared Goff was 20-for-26 for 256 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs. WR Jameson Williams stepped up with 7 catches for 144 yards and a TD.
These teams last faced off Oct. 13, 2024, and the Lions embarrassed the Cowboys 47-9. The Lions were 3.5-point road favorites in that one.

Cowboys 31, Lions 28
The big thing to watch for is St. Brown’s status. He didn’t practice all week, but he’s listed as questionable. He could wind up playing, but I would bet against it – at least in the traditional, non-decoy sense. The Lions are in a must-win situation, but they’ll have 10 days before they face the LA next week. Factor that with 80% of Detroit’s offensive line being questionable, and it’s a tough sell for me to take them.
The COWBOYS (+135) have averaged 29.3 points per game during their 3-game winning streak, and they’re the side to take.
You can double up here, and there isn’t a lot of risk in doing it, because if St. Brown is in fact out, the spread will probably decrease to 1.5.
Take the COWBOYS +3 (-115).
The Cowboys are 7-3 O/U in their last 10, and Detroit is 6-4. Both teams can pile up the points with some significant questions on defense.
Take OVER 54.5 (-110).
