Police said the man was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

IRVING, Texas — A man who fell from a boat into Irving’s Vilbig Lake was found dead a day later after an extensive multi-agency search, authorities said.

Officers responded around 7:45 p.m. Monday to assist the Irving Fire Department after receiving a report that a man had fallen into the water, according to Irving PD. Police said the victim was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

High temperatures on Monday were in the low 40s.

Drones were deployed as firefighters canvassed the area, and a dive team from the Lewisville Fire Department also responded to assist with the search. Despite several hours of searching, the man was not found, and recovery operations were postponed until Tuesday morning.

The search resumed Tuesday with help from the Grand Prairie Fire Department, the Grand Prairie Dive Team and Texas Game Wardens. The victim’s body was recovered at about 2:15 p.m., police said.

The investigation remains ongoing, police said. The medical examiner will determine the official cause of death and confirm the victim’s identity.
