El Paso’s creative community is getting a major boost this February as the City of El Paso’s Museums and Cultural Affairs Department teams up with the Mid America Arts Alliance to offer a completely free two day workshop for artists. The program, called Artist INC Express, will take place at the El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center.

What Is Artist INC Express

Artist INC Express is a fast paced, 10 hour training designed to help artists strengthen the business side of their creative careers. Instead of long lectures, the workshop focuses on practical, real world skill building led by working artists who know the industry from the inside out.

What Participants Will Learn

The program breaks down essential topics like setting goals, securing funding, building a brand, effective marketing, and developing a toolkit that supports long term success. Attendees will also get hands on experience through group discussions, small team activities, and collaborative problem solving that mirrors real creative practice.

Who Can Attend the Workshop

MCAD is opening registration to artists working in any discipline as long as they live within about 75 minutes of El Paso and are at least 18 years old. There is no cost to join the workshop, but participants must register in advance and commit to the full two day, 10 hour experience.

Why MCAD Is Offering This Training

According to the City of El Paso’s Quality of Life Managing Director Ben Fyffe, artists frequently ask MCAD how to advance their careers and navigate the professional challenges that come with being a creative. Bringing Artist INC Express to the region is part of the city’s plan to strengthen the local arts ecosystem by giving artists access to the kind of training that helps them grow.

A Program with National Impact

Artist INC has been running for 15 years and has supported more than 2,000 artists across the country. The program is funded in part by the Windgate Foundation, the Hallmark Corporate Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

How to Register

The workshop will be held Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22. Space is limited, so creatives interested in attending can find registration details and the sign up link on MCAD’s official website. This is a valuable opportunity for local artists to build skills, make connections, and take the next step in their professional journey.
