It was a record-breaking day at the Big 12 Championship game between No. 4 Texas Tech and No. 11 BYU.

The conference announced that Saturday’s crowd of 85,519 was an attendance record for the Big 12 title game. It was a memorable day at AT&T Stadium as Red Raider fans packed the home of the Dallas Cowboys and witnessed Texas Tech win its first Big 12 Championship. BYU’s fanbase did its part too, as a significant contingent of Cougar fans made their way to Arlington.

With the win, Texas Tech also clinched the first 12-win season in program history and officially punched its ticket to the College Football Playoff. With the Red Raiders entering Saturday at No. 4 in the rankings, they figure to remain in the top four and receive a first-round bye in the playoff thanks to their dominant 34-7 win over BYU.

The win also marked Texas Tech’s first outright conference title since 1955 when the Red Raiders were members of the Border Conference.
