PROSPER – Plano East put up just 114 yards of total offense in its 24-7 defeat to Prosper Rock Hill on Thursday night at Children’s Health Stadium.
The Panthers (1-6, 1-4 District 6-6A) turned it over five times, two of which resulted directly in Rock Hill (4-3, 3-3) touchdowns. One was a backwards pass from MJ Haggan that was scooped up by Harrison Johnson, and the other was a bad snap on a punt that was recovered and scored by Jaylen Dangerfield.
No team scored in the first half, and it wasn’t until Rock Hill kicked a 27-yard field goal with 9:25 to go in the third quarter that somebody broke through on the scoreboard. The only offensive score that Rock Hill had was a 37-yard touchdown pass from Nate Vincent to Courtney Lawson.
Plano East’s lone touchdown was the result of a beautiful throw from Haggan to Kariem Pittman with 5:31 to go in the third quarter. Pittman only got two passes on the night, yet he was still the team’s leading receiver with 44 yards.
With the loss, Plano East will finish with a losing record for the first time since 2022 when it finished the season 3-7. The Panthers will look to at least improve from that mark with three more games against Plano, McKinney, and Allen.
