The initial year of the cameras will be covered by a $14,000 grant from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
The cameras have led to debate between aldermen, the police department, and members of the public who have commented at meetings.
Also on the agenda is the city’s annual tax levy. The city is requesting about $2.59 million, which is just under a five percent increase over this year’s levy.
The city council will also vote on the hiring of a new police officer, several public works employees, and bills totaling about $658,300.
