A fatal shooting in southeast Lubbock County has turned a quiet afternoon into tragedy–and the investigation is still unfolding. The incident occurred around 2:38 p.m. today in the 6100 block of E CR 7260.

According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office (LSO), deputies responded to calls of shots fired after a resident reported they had shot an unknown person found on their property.
Deputies Found Gunshot Victim, Emergency Response Followed
When law enforcement arrived, they discovered the gunshot victim receiving medical attention. Emergency Medical Services took immediate action and transported the injured individual to a local hospital in life-threatening condition. Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The caller–who first reported the shooting–was also taken to the hospital for evaluation of minor injuries. Authorities have not released identities officialy, pending notification of the victim’s family.
Investigation Underway — Special Crimes Unit Assigned
The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit has been called in to handle the investigation. The LSO has stated that the caller’s name will remain confidential unless charges are filed. Likewise, the victim’s identity will remain private until the family has been properly notified.

This remains an active investigation; no further details have been released regarding motive, circumstances, or potential charges.
