Officers step in to make holiday wishes come true.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Children were all smiles Tuesday morning as various local law enforcement officials took them shopping at the Walmart on SPID.
Officials and organizers, along with parents, strolled through the store as the children picked out items they wanted for Christmas.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s South Texas Region in Corpus Christi joined local children for this year’s “Shop With a Cop,” bringing the Christmas spirit to life throughout the store.
DPS Trooper Romeo Ramirez says, “It’s awesome just seeing his expressions. I like. He’s really happy. It’s awesome to see the kids, uh, get what you want and get gifts and stuff that he needs.”
From selecting toys to sharing laughs down the aisles, troopers, sheriffs, and organizers helped brighten the holiday season for children in the community.Â
Organizers said events like this highlight how service extends far beyond the uniform.
Danny Resendez, marketing director for Jessica Kelly State Farm, said, “Well, the biggest thing for me is just learning more about them and what their likes and dislikes are. But you know, just knowing that what we’re getting for them is something that’s really needed, uh, for the child, and so he’s having a great time with us.”
Participants expressed gratitude to everyone who helped make the day memorable by spreading joy, building trust, and creating memories that will last well beyond the holidays.
Nueces County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant David Alaniz, he adds, “It’s a good feeling, you know, we get to provide for the kids and help out the kids that, you know, they need a little bit of extra help. We wanna make sure that they enjoy Christmas.”
Officials still have a few other shelves to clear as the days go by, as we count down the days til Christmas.
