AUSTIN, Texas (KSWO) – Texas’ Attorney General is launching a statewide investigation into budget transparency at the municipal level.
As part of the statewide initiative, AG Ken Paxton has requestion the budget and financial documents from nearly a thousand Texas Cities.
He wants to enforce state law barring cities who do not follow audit transparency requirements from raising taxes above the no new revenue rate.
Among the many cities under review are Wichita Falls, Dallas, Fort Worth and more.
