The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) on Wednesday announced the public auction of approximately 133 net mineral acres of federal oil and gas rights located in Big Spring, Texas. The sale reflects GSA’s ongoing effort to streamline the federal real estate portfolio and ensure responsible management of taxpayer-funded assets.

“GSA is proactively divesting underutilized assets, and this public auction sale of mineral rights in Big Spring is a prime example of our dedication to delivering the best value for American taxpayers,” said GSA Acting Administrator Michael Rigas. “By strategically leveraging the value of the government’s portfolio, we are ensuring responsible use of federal resources and contributing to economic growth.”

The auction is limited strictly to subsurface mineral rights. Surface ownership — held by both public and private parties — is not included in the sale.
