Celebrate Christmas and its traditions with NBC 5, Telemundo 39, and the Latino Cultural Center in partnership with the organization Texas Folklife. Fiestas Navideñas promises to be fun for people of all ages with the goal of bringing the community together through food and drinks, music, dancing, and art. The event will take place on Sunday, December 14 between 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas.
Posadas are a Christmas tradition in Latin America. The Latino Cultural Center together with Texas Folklife seek to offer a version of the posada reinvented for these modern times. Tailored for the evolving Latinx culture in the Metroplex and reflecting the relationship between the Latino Cultural Center and Texas Folklife, Las Fiestas Navideñas (“Christmas Parties” in English) intends to bring the community together to celebrate and preserve old traditions for present and future generations. This idea is reinforced by its partnership with Texas Folklife and that organization’s commitment to dedicate itself to “preserving, celebrating, and promoting the diverse cultural heritage of Texas.”
Las Fiestas Navideñas will be an event you won’t want to miss. The event will feature food and drinks, music, dance, and traditional arts and crafts. Scheduled performances include Rondalla Románticas de Dallas, Our Lady of Lourdes Matachines, Bombazo DFW, and Tenochtitlan Ballet Folklorico with DJ MC Big Vic opening the event. Enjoy some hot chocolate with pan dulce and festive arts and crafts inspired by Latin American customs. And what would a party be without treats? Children and families will receive a bag of candy while supplies last.
Las Fiestas Navideñas is a free family event open to the public with no RSVP is needed. Come and celebrate Christmas with us with old traditions and create new ones for future generations to come.
