LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Strong northeast breezes that followed this morning’s front have eased through the evening and will continue to be light tonight as surface high pressure settles in.
The high will shift overnight, turning the wind flow southwesterly and keeping overnight lows relatively mild for mid-December. West-southwesterly winds will strengthen on Thursday.
The wind shift will make Thursday dramatically warmer than today. Afternoon highs are expected to climb into the 70s — roughly 20° above average for this time of year.
Temperatures should remain well above average Friday and Saturday, with dry conditions and generally light winds. A cold front is forecast to sweep through on Sunday, bringing cooler conditions and a brief change in the pattern.
After the front, temperatures trend upward again into next week while dry conditions continue.
