It shouldn’t come as any surprise that one of the prettiest river towns in the U.S. is right here in Texas. Then again, as a lifelong Texas resident, I’m probably a bit biased. Okay, maybe I’m very biased.

If you know anything about Texas, you know people here love to float on the river. It’s a time-honored Texas tradition that, admittedly, I only recently partook in. And yes, I wish I had done it much sooner. But it’s better late than never.

The Hill Country’s Most Beautiful Small Town

Another thing we Texans love is the Hill Country. For my money, it’s the most beautiful part of the Lone Star State. So, I wasn’t surprised in the least bit when I saw that Love Exploring named Wimberly one of the prettiest river towns in the country.

While I’ve been in the area, I’ve never been to Wimberly. But after reading up on the tiny Hill Country town located between Austin and San Antonio, that needs to change ASAP. I’m someone who prefers a relaxing vacation to constantly blowing and going, and Wimberly is perfect for just that.

Not only is Wimberly a scenic river town with “emerald swimming holes, low limestone bluffs, and towering cypress trees,” you’ll also find art galleries, breweries, wineries, and plenty of local independent boutiques for a nice, relaxing vacation.

Start planning your stay at Visit Wimberly.
