LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – More than 500 students across the South Plains will receive specialized training to fulfill high-demand jobs in the area.
Workforce Solutions South Plains received nearly $150,000 from the Texas Workforce Commission. Part of that money was also matched by the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance.
The funding will help train students in fields like mechanics, welding and construction.
The Workforce Commission said now is the time to train and prepare young people to enter the workforce as current workers age out of critical, but labor-intensive jobs.
