AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) published its reported job growth and employment statistics from September 2024 to September 2025.

According to the TWC, over 168,000 jobs have been added to the state, representing a 1.2% growth rate. TWC Chairman Joe Esparza said in a news release that he was thankful for the growth.

“Texas’ job market and labor force continue to grow because we have a dynamic workforce system that fosters opportunity for businesses and workers alike,” Esparza said. “TWC will continue to provide the resources and support needed to keep this momentum and ensure that Texas remains a national leader in economic opportunity.”

The sector that experienced most growth was construction, with over 4,300 jobs added, according to the TWC. Brent Connett, the TWC commissioner representing the public, talked about the growing sectors in the release.

“TWC is upholding Texas’ reputation as the best state to live and work by ensuring job seekers and businesses alike have the support and resources they need to find success in our robust Texas economy,” Connett said. “TWC will continue to facilitate economic growth across the state by connecting job seekers with employers and providing job training for Texans.”

The TWC says that there are almost 16 million members of the Texas workforce, with Amarillo and Midland having the lowest unemployment rate at 3.3%.

The state’s unemployment rate remained stable at 4.1%, which is slightly below the U.S. unemployment rate of 4.4%. Including Texas, 22 states had lower unemployment rates than the national average, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
