Family seeking justice for Lawrence Brantley’s death

  • October 17, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Nearly two months after 18-year-old Lawrence Brantley was shot and killed in Lubbock, his mother says she’s still searching for answers and peace.

Myesha Thomas says every day without justice is another reminder of the night that changed her life.

“Honestly, I’m still kind of in shock for one. A little bit of denial just because I still have that feeling that my child will walk through that door, he’s going to call or something. i still feel like he’s going to come back,” Thomas said.

Police have identified 23-year-old Kendrick “Skrilla” Taylor as the suspect in Brantley’s death. He remains on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list and is wanted for murder. The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering a reward of up to $7,5000 for information leading to his arrest.

“I still don’t know the true story. I don’t know how it begins and the only part I know that his life was taken. That’s it,” she said.

Anyone with information about Taylor’s whereabouts is asked to contact Texas Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477) or through the DPS website.
