Police said four suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old in North Texas during a suspected drug deal.
BURLESON, Texas — Four people have been arrested in connection with a Dec. 7 shooting during a suspected drug deal in Burleson that left a 17-year-old boy dead, police said.Â
Police said Wyatt Lynn Jacobs, of Burleson, was arrested within hours of the shooting and charged with capital murder with robbery and aggravated robbery; Joel Fabian Garcia, of Fort Worth, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and murder; Julio Adan Duarte, of Burleson, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and murder; and Gustavo Gil Jr., of Alvarado, was arrested Dec. 11, and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.
All four suspects are being held at the Johnson County Jail.
Officers were called to respond to the shooting in the parking lot at Bailey Lake around 11:30 p.m. Dec. 7 and found an unresponsive 17-year-old boy, later identified as Keighan Crist, in the driver seat of a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Crist was taken to a local hospital by fire crews, and later pronounced dead, officials said.Â
Another 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the leg was also taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to police. After further investigation, including an interview with the surviving victim, investigators determined the shooting appears to have happened during a drug deal involving three suspects, according to a press release.Â
One of the suspects, identified as Jacobs, was found in a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in Burleson shortly after the shooting, arrested, and admitted to being involved in the shooting, police said.
