MOTORCYCLE CRASH INVESTIGATION
“Motorcyclists are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the road,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.
Texas ranks as the second most dangerous state for motorcyclists nationally, with 599 fatalities and over 2,400 serious injuries in 2023 – a 7% increase from the previous year. On average, one motorcyclist dies daily in Texas, with 574 people killed in motorcycle crashes in 2022, translating to 14.56 fatalities per 10,000 registered motorcycles.
Key risk factors include high rates of impaired and speeding drivers, with nearly half of fatal motorcycle crashes involving speeding and a similar proportion involving alcohol-impaired drivers. About two in five victims weren’t wearing helmets. One-third of motorcycle deaths occur at intersections, where fatal crashes increased significantly from 2022 to 2023. Motorcycles account for a disproportionate share of all vehicle fatalities in Texas despite representing a much smaller portion of registered vehicles. The state has seen consistent increases in motorcycle fatalities every year since 2019, with thousands of motorcyclists involved in accidents annually.
Bond, a seasoned motorcycle accident attorney, emphasized the need for an independent investigation in cases like this to ensure the victim’s family receives proper legal protection.
“Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must be thoroughly examined. These procedures are necessary for helping those who have lost a loved one receive the justice that they deserve.”
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Pending an investigation, an injured victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, of counsel, at Bond Legal, noted that stress from an injury is overwhelming. It disrupts all aspects of life, including family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.
“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows them to negotiate with an insurance company for a client,” Formica said.
“Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth. However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their clients to ensure that they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
