Two people were killed in a shooting in Far North Dallas on Thursday afternoon, Dallas police said in a statement, and the suspect was later found dead in Mesquite from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at about 2:40 p.m. Thursday in the 15800 block of El Estado Drive, according to the statement from police. There, officers found that two people — Arlina Sanders, 24, and Darvilease Washington, 27 — had been shot.
Police said Washington was taken to a local hospital where he died. Sanders died at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives were able to find information on a possible suspect and the suspect vehicle. Police said the suspect vehicle was registered in Mesquite.

While preparing the arrest warrant, police said detectives were notified by Mesquite police about a shooting in their city.
The suspect in the Far North Dallas shooting was found dead in the 1000 block of Craig Drive in Mesquite “with a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to Dallas police. Officials found the suspect vehicle in the driveway.
Additional information about the incident in Mesquite was not immediately available. Dallas police did not release the suspect’s identity.
