Today I am announcing my candidacy for Lubbock City Council District 3.
District 3 deserves to be properly represented, not just used on behalf of developers with deep pockets or as a tool for career politicians to fuel higher ambitions. We have been consistently overlooked by the city government for policies and projects that could improve life for the working families in our district. At the same time, like so many across the City of Lubbock, the people of District 3 are faced with an affordability crisis while our current City Council falters on its campaign promises.
We need a representative who will value people over profit, who listens to and works hard on things that matter to the working people of District 3. We deserve better city services and policies that work for all of us, and a City Council that is transparent, accountable and accessible. When I am elected, we’ll put people before profit, make life in Lubbock more affordable, and improve the things our taxes pay for like roads, libraries, parks and recreation, animal services and public transit.
That means considering initiatives like a new library branch or recreation center to revitalize District 3, additional neighborhood planning efforts, policies to benefit small, locally owned businesses, advocating for charter reform and, of course, addressing the loose animals.
Lubbock has a bright future, and it’s one in which all working families can thrive. Let’s work together and build it.
