LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – Lubbock Animal Services has observed an increased rate of upper respiratory symptoms in dogs, both in the community and at the shelter.
It is important that the community take steps to ensure their pets stay healthy by getting them vaccinated to avoid contracting any upper respiratory infections. Important vaccines to have for your dogs is distemper/parvo vaccines as well as Bordetella, to protect against various upper respiratory infections that dogs can contract.
If you are concerned about your dog potentially having one of these viruses, please observe them for the following symptoms:
Yellow/green ocular discharge
Yellow/green nasal discharge
Excessive coughing
Red/irritated eyes
Lethargy
Neurological symptoms
Seizures
If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms, please seek veterinary treatment promptly.
