Abraham Quintanilla Jr., father of Selena, has died

Abraham Quintanilla Jr., the father of the Queen of Tejano Music, Selena Quintanilla, died on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025. He was 86 years old.

His passing was announced by his son, A.B. Quintanilla.

“It’s with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today,” the musician posted on his Instagram account.

The cause of death has not yet been released.

Abraham Quintanilla, founder of the band Los Dinos, served as his daughter’s manager from the beginning of her musical career, which ended abruptly with her murder on March 31, 1995, at the age of 23.

In the 1997 film Selena starring Jennifer Lopez, which tells the story of the young Tejano star, actor Edward James Olmos portrayed Abraham Quintanilla.
