North Carolina-based Famous Toastery has secured a location for its first San Antonio restaurant, state records show.

The chain — known for comforting breakfast and lunch fare along with its mimosa flights — announced its expansion into both the Alamo City in November 2024, saying the unit would be its first west of the Mississippi River. However, at the time, officials said they hadn’t yet decided on its precise location in the SA metro.

Since then, owners of the local Famous Toastery franchise filed project details with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, confirming that Northwest San Antonio will be the site of the chain’s Lone Star State debut. The 3,452-square-foot restaurant will be at 15031 Babcock Road, near the College Park H-E-B.

Famous Toastery has built a following by serving up new takes on classic comfort dishes. It offers a variety of breakfast, lunch and drink options, including omelets, club sandwiches, bloody marys and more.

With an estimated cost of $500,000, franchise owner Rachell Bonds filed to finish out — or customize — the building for the new location through renovations and alterations, according to the TDLR document, filed Dec. 11. Construction began last week and is scheduled to complete around May 8.

Bonds, a 27-year army veteran, will own the unit, the Current previously reported.

In 2023, Famous Toastery began offering franchise deals to expand outside its Charlotte home base. As of December 2025, the company had 22 locations along the East Coast in Virginia and the Carolinas, according to its website.
