After securing its first Sweet 16 victory in 24 years, the Texas A&M volleyball program is slated to take on the No. 1 seed Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament at John Cook Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The Aggies’ miraculous reverse sweep of Louisville on Friday showed that this team still has plenty of fight left in them, but they will require even more against the Cornhuskers, who are seeking their sixth national title. Nebraska dominated its opening rounds, including a sweep of Kansas in the Sweet 16, to earn the opportunity to defend its home court against Texas A&M this weekend.

Reaching this position in the postseason consistently and changing the culture were always the goals for head coach Jamie Morrison. When he walked through the doors of the Aggie facility for the first time, he implemented a winning standard. Now, Texas A&M has the ultimate matchup to seize that opportunity and make more history against the No. 1 team in the country.

It will require leaders like Logan Lednicky, who moved to fourth all-time in career-kills in the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament, and Ifenna Cos-Okpalla to step up and shine against a Nebraska squad that is undefeated this year. The Cardinals snatched a 2-0 lead against the Aggies on Friday because of some inconsistent play in the closing moments of sets, which must be cleaned up against a unit that is tremendously less forgiving.
