Texas Tech women’s basketball held Abilene Christian University to its lowest three-point total during its 67-57 win on Sunday at the OC Sports Center in Odessa.

After head coach Krista Gerlich said in a press conference preventing Abilene Christian from making three pointers would be important for Tech to win, the Lady Raiders held the Wildcats to four three pointers on 20 attempts.

Alongside the emphasis on stopping their opponents three-point shots, Tech also fell short against Abilene Christian in three point production, making six of 20 three point attempts. The Lady Raiders were able shift their focus towards the paint, where they scored 40 of their 67 points against the Wildcats.

Abilene Christian was not able to match Tech’s scoring ability from inside the field and made most of its points from 35 free throw attempts. Abilene Christian junior guard Emma Troxell made all eight of her free throw attempts during the game.

Five Lady Raiders finished the game in foul trouble with the team racking up 25 total personal fouls, tying their game against the University of Texas at San Antonio for the most personal fouls this season.

Redshirt-senior forward Jada Malone along with senior guard Bailey Maupin led Tech’s scoring with 14 points each. Of her nine shots taken during the game, Malone missed one free throw.

Tech held ACU junior center Meredith Mayes, who leads the team with 56 field goals this season, to two goals from the field.

The game marks the third time this season that the Lady Raiders have recorded a season low 67 points. The other two games were at the Hoopfest Women’s Basketball Challenge against Old Dominion University and the University of North Texas.

The Lady Raiders’ 12-0 start is their longest undefeated start since a 17-0 start during the 2003-04 season.

Next, Tech will return to the United Supermarkets Arena to host Jacksonville University at 11 a.m. Wednesday for its final non-conference game of the season.
