BIG WORDS were had in a recent post in LBK Foodies (that I agree with, wholeheartedly). The post said:
There’s not a single chain restaurant that’s better than a local Lubbock restaurant. Change my mind.
Of course, most Lubbockites (a few haters aside) agreed, but with one major caveat: Texas Roadhouse.

The One Chain That Gets a Free Pass From Locals
Texas Roadhouse (6101 Slide Rd) in Lubbock is the largest in the world at 12,000 square feet. We are seriously passionate about this steakhouse and fill it up to the brim most nights. Despite its popularity, Texas Roadhouse has always run like a well-oiled machine any time I’ve been there- with my steak cooked just right (I like medium rare), delicious fresh sides, and a frankly obscene amount of rolls with that decadent butter.Â

Where Texas Roadhouse Began (And Why WE Get To Own It)
Weirdly enough, Texas Roadhouse began in Clarksville, Indiana, and is currently headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. The parent company also owns another Lubbock favorite, Bubba’s 33. They also own Jaggers, a fast-casual burger/ chicken chain (which we are constantly rumored to be getting soon).
Texas Roadhouse is massively successful with 800 locations, including 70 international locations in 11 countries. Next time you’re in Dubai, you can test their location against Lubbock’s.
Even though Texas Roadhouse began and exists elsewhere, I do feel like Lubbock gets to “own it” both for having the largest location with diehard support and because we have infused our culture so deeply into our location. If I were from another country, I’d want to experience the Lubbock location because I could rest assured that at least half the folks there have their boots on.
