TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — A fast-moving wildfire broke out Friday afternoon near the intersection of Highway 183 and FM 812 just south of the airport, burning at least 20 acres.

The Mustang Ridge Police Department reported the fire at approximately 1:45 p.m. and urged residents to avoid the area as flames spread rapidly.

By 2:01 p.m., police said the fire had jumped the road, prompting additional emergency units to respond to the scene.

Earlier Friday, Travis County Judge Andy Brown signed a disaster declaration due to heightened fire risks, and burn bans remain in effect across Central Texas.

No injuries or structure damage have been reported. Motorists are advised to avoid Highway 183 and FM 812 and seek alternate routes.
