Cloud Naan brings chai, stuffed naan in communal atmosphere to Richardson

Cloud Naan is opening its first U.S. location in Richardson early next year, serving up chai and stuffed naan in a communal atmosphere.

Cloud Naan started in Pakistan and has since expanded to several locations in Canada. Owner Haris Saleem said that Cloud Naan captures the atmosphere of dhabas, restaurants in Pakistan that Saleem compares to western pubs, where people gather around chai and comfort food.

“People come, they relax, they have a few traditional drinks, they have comfort food,” Saleem said. “People will come to Cloud Naan three, four, five times a week. It’s a place for them to hang out. It’s their place.”

Cloud Naan’s menu focuses on stuffed naans, offering a range of both traditional and fusion flavors, from a creamy tikka naan to a Philly cheesesteak naan.
